We LOVE G2G SpawnPots… Read below and we bet you’ll love them too!
- 3x G2G SpawnPots of Sterile Rye Grain (filled to approx 75g / 100ml each SpawnPot)
- Comes supplied within an IncuTub™
SpawnPots are brilliant for creating lots of small batches of live mushroom spawn
These little batches of mushroom spawn can be used to inoculate / grain-to-grain transfer into multiple full size grain SpawnJars/Tubs for speedy growth.
It’s not uncommon for us to have full colonisation of our large SpawnJars/Tubs from a SpawnPot transfer in just 3-4 days.
But, there’s still a bit more to this product than what initially appears – even to the experienced!
The things below are why we placed our unique little product into the Mycology section as well as our Spawn and Substrate section. It’s powerful.
Our little trade secret no more.
SpawnPots for long term live mycelium storage
We often store fully colonised SpawnPots in the fridge for months.
When we want to whip up a batch of King Oyster or whatever, we’ll take a SpawnPot out of the fridge and G2G it with a couple of SpawnJars to produce lots of fully colonised litre jars of live spawn in 4-7 days.
Most cultivators will store agar culture in the fridge, but when an agar wedge is taken out and used to innoculate a SpawnJar it will never match the speed of live spawn from a SpawnPot – grain creates hundreds of innoculation points whilst an agar wedge creates just one.
Plus, live grain spawn will store for longer in a fridge.
SpawnPots for contamination control
Take a syringe you suspect/know to be contaminated and inject into the SpawnPot, allow it to incubate really warm (26C will do).
Along with contaminants, you’ll usually always see clean bits of mycelium growing in there too.
Because the SpawnPots are very small, it’s very easy to get in there with sterile teezers and carefully pick up a clean mycelium coated grain and drop it into a new SpawnPot.
As long as the grain you picked up didn’t touch anything bad on it’s way out, you will likely start getting clean growth happening.
We’ve faught and won against contamination many times. It’s a rewarding experience that anyone is capable of.
SpawnPots™ are also perfect for:
- Learning G2G on small scale before you move up to larger SpawnTubs or Jars.
- Those with our AgarPots who want to learn how to transfer the mycelium from AgarPots to grain
What’s an IncuTub™?
A sterile incubation tub which will allow your SpawnPots™ to colonise within a clean yet breathable environment. It’s also excellent for keeping all your SpawnPots clean within the fridge!
When it comes to opening the pots to access the mushroom culture, feel confident that contaminants aren’t falling on top.
How to inoculate?
There are many ways to do this; one is to inject 0.5ml of gourmet spore solution via the rubber injection port, another is to open the SpawnPot lid within a SAB and drop in mycelium coated grain from another SpawnPot.

Experience a problem with any product? Don’t panic!
Clean products are what we specialise in, it’s our bread and butter – and we’re good at it. We have to be.
Sterile technique is like driving – you can’t learn it by reading, you need to be practising it always.
While most contamination reports are statistically more likely to be down to beginner error, it’s not always the case.
Sometimes it may actually be us. Does that mean we don’t know what we are doing or that we’re rookies at this?
No. And here’s why.
We regularly purchase live gourmet mother spawn from one of, if not the largest, most accredited mycology business in the world.
This company is BIG and they even run week-long training courses in mycology and have the most incredible set up worth a fortune.
Even they make mistakes. We’ve had to get in touch with them a couple of times after receiving contaminated spawn.
The point we’re trying to make here is that even the masters of mycology mess up. Nature is unpredictable and we all make mistakes.
Although we don’t offer refunds on our products, we will send a voucher for it’s replacement.
Irregardless who is at fault.
A second chance on us 🙂
*If we believe this is being abused by anyone, we reserve the right to remove it at any time.
Although this grow kit can be used without a SAB, it’s good practise and recommended to use one.
We have SAB’s available, but you can always build yourself something – it doesn’t need to be fancy!
…some people even build SAB’s with a cardboard box (inferior but better than open air).
Preparing the syringe
Before using any syringe it’s best to thoroughly distribute the spores or culture within the syringe as best as you can.
A good way to dislodge spores stuck to the plastic syringe wall is to rattle off the corner of something solid whilst spinning the syringe around. Half a dozen times off a table will do the trick. Don’t slam it or you’ll break it.
An even better method is to use a sterile vial; inject into it then fill it back up again and voila – evenly distributed spores.
First impression counts
Nosey delivery drivers, flatmates, neighbours or work colleagues?
Your parcel will be sent in high quality, nondescript packaging; our website won’t be mentioned and there’s no tell-tale return address to worry about either.
Even for international orders made from outside of the UK, our customs declarations are barebones with descriptions such as ‘Microscopy Kit’ or ‘Gardening Supplies’, etc… We follow the rules whilst maintaining your privacy.
Planning to pay with Bank Transfer?
We will email you immediately after checkout, so be sure to read what it says.
Bank payments are what 90% of our customers use, we receive a lot of payments via bank and sometimes people do not appreciate that it’s impossible to know who has paid if you do not follow our instructions. Especially when many customers use names on their orders which don’t even match the names that bank transfers are coming from!
So, we created a better process for us to handle large volumes of bank transfers extremely efficiently.
Follow both simple steps for a happy, stress-free ordering experience at Cylocybe.
- Use your Order Number as the reference within your banking app.
Because it allows us to search for the payment in our bank. We literally type your order number in. Searching with names or amounts are completely useless. Order numbers are what we need.
- Then click on the ‘I Have Paid’ button within your account dashboard
It notifies us so we know to look for the payment you’ve sent. Think of it this way; if we get 500 orders in a day, but only 250 people actually follow through and send payment – that means that we’ve saved ourselves having to search our bank 250 times for payments that were never sent in the first place. The time savings for us are monumental which is handy when we are always rushed for time.
When we get a minute, we’ll verify the payment in our bank and start processing your order.

Do I need to buy Cultkit G2G pots as well as Spawn tubs? What's the benefit of having both? Would I just transfer the G2G cultkit contents to the larger tub for growing/fruiting? If both useful, how many Spawn tubs needed if I have 2G2G cultkits? Thanks

You have the right idea, yeah.
You’ll really only need one G2G CultKit though, not two. Each of the three little pots in this kit are essentially 3 chances you have at creating enough good clean spawn to then G2G to a much larger SpawnTub. From there you can keep G2G’ing and create another 10-20 large SpawnTubs. It’s just about keeping the mycelium running.
