What we store on your device
Cookie policy.
We run no analytics, no advertising and no third party tracking. Here is every cookie this site can set, what it does and how long it lasts.
The short version. We run no analytics, no advertising and no third party tracking cookies of any kind. Load this site and browse it and nothing at all is stored on your device. Cookies only appear once you do something that needs one, like putting an item in your basket, signing in, or choosing a currency.

What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They are widely used to make sites work, to make them work better, and to report information back to the site owner.
Cookies set by the site you are visiting are called first party cookies. Cookies set by anyone else are third party cookies, and they are what allow outside companies to recognise you across different websites for advertising and analytics.
Every cookie listed on this page is a first party cookie. We set none of the third party kind, because we do not use any third party services on our shop pages.
How we use cookies
We use cookies for three things only:
- To make the shop work. Your basket, your sign-in, the security checks on our forms.
- To remember a preference you set yourself, like which currency you want prices in.
- To tell whether one of our own emails or on-site messages led to an order. These are the only ones that are not essential, and they are the ones the cookie banner asks you about.
What we do not use
We think this list matters more than the one above:
- No analytics. No Google Analytics, and no replacement for it. We do not measure your journey through the site.
- No advertising or retargeting cookies. Nothing follows you to another website.
- No social media pixels. No Meta pixel, no TikTok pixel, nothing of that sort.
- No third party fonts, maps or embedded scripts on our shop pages, so no other company gets to see your visit.
- No fingerprinting or any other technique used to identify you without a cookie.
The cookies we use
Strictly necessary
These make the site function. Without them your basket forgets itself, you cannot stay signed in, and our forms cannot tell a real submission from a forged one. They do not need your consent and cannot be switched off from the banner.
| Cookie | Duration | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| wp_woocommerce_session_[hash] | 2 days, or 7 days signed in | Links your browser to your basket and checkout details, which are held on our server rather than in the cookie itself. |
| woocommerce_cart_hash | Session | Tells the site your basket has changed, so the totals and the basket icon refresh. |
| woocommerce_items_in_cart | Session | Tells the site there is something in your basket. |
| woocommerce_geo_hash | 1 hour | Remembers which country we worked out you are in, so prices and shipping options load quickly. |
| wordpress_logged_in_[hash] | Session, or 14 days if you tick to stay signed in | Keeps you signed in and tells the site which account you are. |
| wordpress_sec_[hash] | Session, or 14 days | The secure version of the sign-in cookie. Sent only over an encrypted connection. |
| wordpress_test_cookie | Session | Set once to check whether your browser will accept cookies at all. |
| wp-settings-[id] and wp-settings-time-[id] | 1 year | Remembers screen preferences inside the admin area. Only ever set for our own staff. |
| wp-resetpass-[hash] | Session | Used only while you are in the middle of resetting your password. |
| cyc_pg_session | 30 days | Signs you in as a Privacy Guest, the option that lets you order without giving us an email address at all. |
| cyc_ev_pending | About 1 hour | Holds your pending email confirmation while you finish creating an account. |
| cyc_lcid | 2 hours | Identifies your browser while a guest sign-in code is being exchanged. The code itself never leaves our server. |
| cyc_li_csrf, cyc_lc_csrf, cyc_contact_csrf | Session | Security tokens. They stop another website from submitting our sign-in, contact or claim forms while pretending to be you. |
| cyc_uc_pw_[hash] | Set per page | Remembers that you entered the password for a page we have put behind one. |
| popups_consent | 1 year | Remembers your answer to the cookie banner, so we stop asking. Storing your choice is itself necessary. |
Functional
These remember a choice you made. Nothing here identifies you or leaves our server.
| Cookie | Duration | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| cyc_currency | 30 days | Remembers the currency you picked, so prices stay in it as you browse. |
| woocommerce_recently_viewed | Session | Remembers which products you have looked at, so a recently viewed list can be shown. |
| woo-share | 1 hour | Used when someone opens a shareable link to a page that is not public yet. |
| cyc_holiday_preview | Set per preview | Lets staff preview a holiday closure notice before it goes live. Only ever set for our own staff. |
Attribution
These two are the only non-essential cookies on the site, and they are what the banner is asking you about. They tell us whether our own emails and on-site messages actually led to an order. They are ours, they stay with us, and they are never shared or sold.
If you choose essential cookies only, cyc_cmp lasts until you close your browser and popups_attr is never set at all.
| Cookie | Duration | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| cyc_cmp | 30 days if you accept all, otherwise until you close your browser | Records which of our email campaign links you arrived from, so we can tell which mailout led to an order. |
| popups_attr | 7 days | Records which on-site message you were shown before ordering, so we can tell whether it was any use. |
Analytics, performance and advertising
None. There are no cookies in these categories on this website, because we do not use any analytics, performance monitoring or advertising services.
Other things stored on your device
Cookies are not the only way a website can store something in your browser. For completeness, here is everything else we use. None of it is sent to us, and all of it is cleared when you clear your browsing data.
| Name | Type | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| popups_mem | Local storage | Remembers which on-site messages you have already been shown. Only written if you accept all cookies. |
| popups_sess | Session storage | The same thing for a single browsing session, used when you choose essential cookies only. |
| wc, wc_cart_created | Local storage | Basket timing used by the shop software. |
| cyc_sp_[name] | Session storage | Remembers that you have already closed a status notice, so it does not reappear on every page. |
| cycfrv | Session storage | Notes which version of the site you have loaded, so you get fresh pages after we update something. |
| Screen and column preferences | Local storage | Remembers which optional columns and panels you have turned on. Staff only. |
How to change your mind
The cookie banner appears on your first visit and records your answer for a year. To change that answer, clear this site's cookies in your browser and the banner will ask you again on your next visit.
You can also block or delete cookies yourself at any time. Every browser lets you do it, though blocking the strictly necessary ones will stop the basket and sign-in working:
