Reviews

These reviews are verified CusRev reviews. You will likely see large gaps in the years, these were either due to being on an extended break from Cylocybe due to life events or that we had gaps where we kind of stopped paying the CusRev contract. We unfortunately lost all of our Trustpilot reviews. If you want to leave a review, feel free to. We never pester for them, but only a teeny tiny number of people write them and it would mean a lot to us and our potential customers if you did when you get sent a review invite in a few months. If you order more than one product here, please don’t review every one of them - we had a customer buy 40 syringes and leave top reviews for each - we appreciate them but we have to remove them because they look manufactured. And for the love of mushrooms, don’t buy 40 products and leave 40 bad reviews without getting in touch first :)

I have had the bag colonising for about a week but am yet to see any mycelium growth growth a 25 celcius room. Is there any reason for this. I feel like I may have loosened the grain too much, possibly this is why? Anonymous asked on 4th July 2021

Hi there, just give it a little longer to start showing results. When you use a needle on a Special MycoBag it can inject quite deep, so the mycelium will be growing deeper inside taking a bit longer to come into view. It’ll be ok :)

For multiple flushes, do we go back through the guide? And if so - haven't we cut a bit of the bag already? Anonymous asked on 18th June 2021

Unsure what you mean about the bag being cut, but it doesn't have any relevance to the future flushes.

If you want to rehydrate the cake after the first flush, you could submerge it under water for 4-12 hours. Then put it back into the Grow Tent as usual and try to fruit it again. The length of bag is irrelevant. Hell, you could do away with the bag if you wanted and simply sit the cake on a piece of tinfoil so that the perlite isn't touching it and have even more surface area to fruit from. There are so many different options for you to try :)

What is a good method to keep it warm enough? Anonymous asked on 16th June 2021

A small room with an oil filled radiator is the best, quite efficient too. The other option is buying two plastic tubs of the same size and a cheap fish tank heater - every fish tank heater has it’s own inbuilt thermostat. Fill one tub with water and a little bleach and then place your other tub into this tub. It’s not great but it can help people get by in the winter months especially. Remember to change the water every regularly and also fan the trapped air out. You can make it more efficient on power by wrapping insulation around the entire tub to keep the heat in. Again, it’s not perfect. But on a shoestring budget, I can’t think of a better way if you have a cold home.

could i break up the colonised cake to fruit in a monotub instead of the bag at all? Rob asked on 17th March 2021

I wouldn’t recommend breaking this cake up, however you could remove it from the bag and place in a a fruiting chamber to grow direct from.

which is safer for culture grow this or the box? Shervin Mokhtari asked on 11th February 2021

Both are a good choice really. Though we are about to introduce the Cylocybe Special XL within the next couple of days so you might want to take a look at that too as we have a funny feeling it’s going to be the defacto standard for growing pretty much anything :)

Stopped at customs

In the 9 years we have been running, we have only had a couple of issues with parcels being stopped at customs - if this is the fault of us (USA seized a parcel once because we put a Cadbury's chocolate bar into a parcel as a treat ) then of course we will sort it out and take the hit. But if it's not our fault, then we will not cover any replacement cost. Luckily, this situation has probably happened a few times in all of these years.
