83% Reduction in Contamination Reports
Contamination is inevitable in this hobby. Nature eventually finds a way to show you who’s boss.
But, if we weren’t striving for perfection with our kits then what’d be the point?!
Since we released the Cylocybe MonoBox in early summer of 2021 (with an initial prototype in March, 2021), we’ve had a dramatic decrease in the number of failed grows due to contamination.
Why are those reporting rates so good?
SpawnTubs in this kit only have one injection port as opposed to our other kits which have six, so it’s way easier to clean and inject before microbes get much of an opportunity to land and hitchhike in with the needle.
Also, well prepared sterile grain spawn is more microbe resistant than all-in-one sterile grain/substrate mixes because it’s way drier. Early mycelium often out-runs bacteria on grain and you’ll never even notice it doing it, but throw extra water into the mix and you have a microbe pool party just waiting to happen. And when there’s no such thing as a sterile spore syringe, that makes a big difference.
And finally, unlike bag based mushroom grow kits – SpawnTubs are more reliable and don’t puncture tiny little holes along creases and seams or cause issues with the injection port not sealing up correctly.
