Add 1000mL / 1L of boiling kettle water in, then mycowave for 10mins with the lid slightly cracked open. Leave in microwave to cool to room temp. If it's not at field capacity, just take a handful and queeze out some water until it is.

before mixing with 1 of our new SpawnTubs worth of grain (around 1 litre of colonised grain) or a 1KG grain spawn bag (around 1.2L of grain). Both are an excess of spawn, but it will help for faster colonisation.

Reviews

These reviews are verified CusRev reviews. You will likely see large gaps in the years, these were either due to being on an extended break from Cylocybe due to life events or that we had gaps where we kind of stopped paying the CusRev contract. We unfortunately lost all of our Trustpilot reviews. If you want to leave a review, feel free to. We never pester for them, but only a teeny tiny number of people write them and it would mean a lot to us and our potential customers if you did when you get sent a review invite in a few months. If you order more than one product here, please don’t review every one of them - we had a customer buy 40 syringes and leave top reviews for each - we appreciate them but we have to remove them because they look manufactured. And for the love of mushrooms, don’t buy 40 products and leave 40 bad reviews without getting in touch first :)

When using this with cylab and are after side pins, do you still need a casing layer? Or is it better to layer grain and coir the whole way through so there's a casing layer on every side? Anonymous asked on 23rd October 2021

Hi Drew! You can just layer the colonised grain and coir all the way up - don’t worry if some grain will be exposed on a side - the mycelium is so unfussy anyway :)

Hi, can I add 2 SpawTubs that have different variety of spores in the MonoBox XXL? Thanks! Anonymous asked on 14th October 2021

If you are injecting two different types of gourmet spores in there from the same species, then will be ok. However if you are trying that with two different species entirely then it will be interesting seeing what happens.

You mention using a large plastic box to create a fruiting chamber. In that case, is it necessary to use perlite? Also, why is perlite not needed when using this 3.1L SubBox? Thanks. Anonymous asked on 9th July 2021

Fantastic question.

If you decide to use this in a proper fruiting chamber then I’d recommend using perlite. If you don’t, there will be a lot more humidity lost from the mycelium brick due to the much larger volume of space inside the chamber.

When using a bag as a fruiting chamber, specifically the XL Grow Tent - it’s a perfect size for the cake and the humidity generated is ideal for the volume of space inside there.

I hope this makes sense. What I’m saying applies to this product only.

if I colonised this in my own grow bag, could I then use it as the spawn, mixing it with coco coir in a monotub to bulk? I know your meant to use a grain spawn but I don't see why this would not work? Anonymous asked on 30th May 2021

One of the main benefits of grain spawn is that each of the grains seperate to create lots of inoculation points. If you tried using only this as a spawning medium, you would struggle to create all of the inoculation points and the nutrients would be too dilute to grow virtually anything. This product needs to be treated as a substrate which you spawn to with the likes of colonised rye grain.

Stopped at customs

In the 9 years we have been running, we have only had a couple of issues with parcels being stopped at customs - if this is the fault of us (USA seized a parcel once because we put a Cadbury's chocolate bar into a parcel as a treat ) then of course we will sort it out and take the hit. But if it's not our fault, then we will not cover any replacement cost. Luckily, this situation has probably happened a few times in all of these years.
