Replacement cover, explained

EZ-Warranty.

Optional cover you add in the basket. If a covered item lets you down, a like-for-like replacement drops into your basket for £0, no questions asked.

The short version. EZ-Warranty is optional cover you add in the basket. Tick it and every covered item in that order can be replaced free if something goes wrong, with no photos, no explanations and no questions asked. Spores are covered for 6 weeks from dispatch, grow kits for 12 weeks. You claim it yourself from your account, and the replacement drops into your basket at £0. You only pay the postage to send it out.

1. What EZ-Warranty is

Our products used to be priced with a replacement guarantee baked in, whether you wanted it or not. We have now dropped the prices and made that guarantee an optional add-on instead. So you choose.

Leave it unticked and you pay the lower price. Tick it and you pay roughly what you would have paid before, and you are covered. Nobody is forced to pay for cover they will never use.

Spores and grow kits are covered separately. If your basket has both, you will see two options and you can take one without the other. Cover your syringes and take your chances on a kit, or the other way round. Entirely your call.

2. What it costs

Cover is priced per item, and it is the same amount whichever strain or variety you pick.

  • 1ml spore syringe — £1
  • 3ml spore syringe — £2
  • 12ml spore syringe — £3
  • The Cube³ Special — £5 for the whole bundle
  • MycoBox Grow Kit — £10
  • MonoBox Grow Kit — £13

If you buy more than one of something, cover is charged for each one, and each one can be claimed. Buy eight 12ml syringes with cover and all eight are covered, not just the first.

3. What it covers, and for how long

If a covered item is not right, you get a like-for-like replacement, free. Same strain, same size. We do not ask for photographs, we do not ask you to prove anything, and we do not ask what happened.

The clock starts on dispatch, not on the day you order:

  • Spore products — 6 weeks from dispatch
  • Grow kits — 12 weeks from dispatch

Grow kits get the longer window on purpose. A kit reveals itself slowly, over weeks of colonisation, and a window that runs out before you could reasonably know there was a problem would not be worth paying for.

On grow kits, fault does not come into it. You were always covered when a problem was ours. The warranty now also covers the times it was yours. If a kit does not work out, whatever the reason, you can replace it.

Fancy a different strain instead?

On spore syringes you can swap to a different strain rather than take the same one back. Any in-stock Cubensis syringe of the same size is available, for a small fee, which is the same amount as the cover for that size. Grow kits are like-for-like only.

4. What is not covered

Cover only exists on products that are offered it in the basket. If you did not see a cover option, the item is not covered. Specifically:

  • Foil prints, swabs and 12ml vials are not covered, even though they sit alongside the syringes.
  • Multi-packs such as SpawnTubs are not covered at the moment.
  • Non-Cubensis and wild-collected spores are not covered. These are gathered from the wild and can carry natural hitchhikers, which is exactly why we cannot guarantee them.
  • A free replacement cannot itself be replaced. One claim per item, then that item is done.
  • Postage is not covered. The replacement is free, getting it to you is not.

The basket tells you exactly where you stand. Each cover option lists the items it covers by name, and names anything in your basket it does not cover, so there is never a guess involved.

Illegal use voids your cover

Psilocybe cubensis spores are sold for microscopy and genetic preservation only. Cultivating them is illegal in the UK. We do not supply them for that purpose and we cannot assist with it.

If a claim, message or order note tells us that spores have been cultivated, or describes any other illegal use, the warranty on that order is void. No replacement will be sent, and the amount paid for the warranty is not refunded.

Grow kits are supplied for gourmet, edible species, which are legal to cultivate in the UK.

5. How to claim

You do it yourself, in a couple of minutes. There is no form to fill in and nobody to convince.

  1. Sign in and open the replacement portalHead to the replacement portal, signed in to the account that placed the order.
  2. Pick the order and the itemChoose the order, then the item that let you down. If you bought more than one, say how many are affected.
  3. It lands in your basket at £0The replacement is added to your basket priced at zero, marked as a free replacement.
  4. Check out and pay postage onlyComplete the order as normal. The only thing you pay is delivery.Usually dispatched the same day

If an item is not eligible, the portal tells you why rather than leaving you guessing, whether that is the window having passed, the order not having been dispatched yet, or cover not having been taken on that order.

Checked out as a guest?

The replacement portal can only look up an order it can prove is yours, so it needs you either signed in to the account that placed the order, or signed in as a Privacy Guest using the secret order code from your confirmation.

If you have neither — no account and no order code — the form cannot find your order, and it will say so rather than let you go round in circles. In that case just email orders@cylocybe.com with your order number and what went wrong, and we will arrange the replacement by hand. You are not losing anything by not having an account; it is only the self-service part that needs one.

6. If you ordered before all this

Nobody has been left worse off by the change.

Every order keeps whatever it was sold with. If you bought before the switch, when the guarantee was included in the price, you still have it. Nothing was taken away retrospectively and nothing needs claiming back.

Grow kits have been backdated. If you ordered a grow kit at the old price between 1 July 2026 and the price change on 17 August 2026, you have been given kit cover free, for whatever is left of your 12 weeks from dispatch. It is already on your order. There is nothing to apply for and nothing to pay.

7. Worth knowing

Cover cannot be added after you have paid

It has to be taken at the time, in the basket or at checkout. We cannot add it to an order afterwards, and we cannot add it once something has already gone wrong. That is the nature of cover, and it is why the option is on the basket page as well as at checkout.

Your order needs to have been dispatched

A claim can be made once your order shows as complete. Until it has actually left us, there is nothing to replace.

Will this always be here?

We hope so. It is offered because it feels like the human way to run a shop, not because the numbers demanded it. If claims run far beyond what the cover pays for, we may have to look at it again. We would rather say that plainly now than quietly change it later.

Still not sure whether something is covered? Ask us before you order rather than after. We would far rather answer a question up front than have you assume.
